Barrel wood is the centrepiece of every DIOGENES NEW LINE design.
‘All the barrels that we use for our furniture were produced in their day under very special quality conditions. The wood was traditionally felled according to special moon phases and then air-dried for a long time. This wood has its own character, is unique and cannot be reproduced in this way today, even with the latest technology.’
Pramstaller buys the barrels, mainly made of oak, from which he designs his furniture, from renowned wineries throughout Europe. He personally checks their quality on site and also learns about their history. Some of the barrels in the DIOGENES NEW LINE manufactory are 150 years old. As a bonus for his customers, he always tries to buy a bottle of the wine that has been maturing in the barrel for years. After strict quality control, the barrels are transported to Lienz, where they are left to dry in the air so that the tartar can be removed more easily later.
